I spent two weeks in a Montessori preschool getting some experience as a preschool teacher

One of the projects I did was to make some cute placemats that shows the children where the plate, cup, and silverware goes.

Snack time is so much fun! Yum!

Smocked Heart dress

I made this pretty dress for Sarah to wear on Allyson’s blessing day (1997). It got dirty the minute we got home, so she had to change into a different dress for the family party. Always have a backup for special occasions!

Hand smocked with green rayon embroidery thread. Heart hand embroidered with variegated silk ribbon.

Mushrooms {Year Of Enchantment swap}

I just found a couple of posts that I had never published. lol! This fun swap took place May 2010.

Mushrooms are one of my favorite things. they can be a home for a fairy or gnome, they can have magical caterpillars sit on them, if you are in “Wonderland” they will make you grow or shrink… the possibilities are endless when you use your imagination

I was lucky to be swap partners with one of my dear friends, Sandy. I made her these fun mushroom ornaments from wool felt. I felted colors onto the top of the mushroom before sewing the two pieces together.

I also sent Sandy a few extra things in her package… lemon tea (her favorite), a couple little wooden mushrooms, a mushroom card made from paper that I made, and a tissue holder for her purse.

Sandy made three sweet little mushroom ornaments for me. the pink one is only 1 inch tall.

Sandy always sends me lots of fun “extras” in my packages… lace, ribbon, recipe cards, fairy button, and lots of fairy stamps.

She sent these cute doll clothes for my kids. my girls were thrilled! they had to put the outfits on their dolls right away and had a fashion show :)

I made this dress for Felicity . It’s sweet and simple , yet with the smocking and bullion roses on the center bodice and sleeves (done by hand) , it would be suitable for a blessing dress.

the back has hand embroidered bullion rosebuds on the buttons because people always see the back of the dress

Washable silk newborn dress

I started making this dress to bring my 4th baby girl home from the hospital. I ran out of time before I could get the lace sewn on, but I did finish it a month later so Felicity was able to wear it a few times before she outgrew it.

cream washable silk with vintage french lace. hand embroidery is yellow french knot flowers and mint green vines.

like so many dresses, I never took a picture so I had the doll be a model but then people thought it was a doll dress. I then used my friend’s baby for my model. Thanks Rebekah!

Hanne, my sister, had a little girl after 3 boys. We all were quite excited about it and I got started on the blessing dress ideas as soon as Hanne found out she was having a girl. I had so much fun making this dress! The silk was so luxurious that I got carried away and made it into a Christening gown length! This dress is a true heirloom.

Silk twill fabric. machine pin-tucks and hand embroidered french knots on yoke. hand smocked across front and hand embroidered bullion roses across smocking; lace on neck, sleeves, and hem; scalloped pintuck and hand embroidered bullion roses on hemline.
